A quiet moment of reflection…second year Jennie surveying an evening’s hard work at the end of a busy paintcall for The Laramie Project.
First show tonight- good luck to all involved especially all the technical theatre students (and staff!) working tirelessly behind the scenes to make this another successful and world class Guildhall School production!
Here is a picture taken earlier in the week. Standing by the dock doors that separate the stage from the paintshop you can see straight through the half completed truck for the opera and into the auditorium. The stage is eerily quiet for a brief moment which is particularly rare during fit-up!
Although fit up had started and our Silk Street Theatre is buzzing with activity, I have chosen this photo for picture of the week. This photo sums up the scene art department this week; sanding, painting and glazing the huge ceiling and wall sections of the box for the upcoming opera as well as painting the BP screen for the truck! More photos of the set taking shape next week…
All of the students (and staff) are working hard at the moment in the scenic construction department as they build the scenery for the upcoming opera production of Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart. Here is a sneaky picture of third year design realisation student Daisy and construction lecturer Edd welding a steel structure that will form part of a light box/side wall for one of the main scenic components.
More photos of the set taking shape coming next week as well as the cloths and BP screen that the scenic art team are painting and the impressive trees that the props department are working on…it’s going to be a busy week ahead!
