2013 in review

2014 is here, a new year, a new term and loads more interesting things happening in the design realisation department here at the Guildhall School…

Term officially starts next week (although I have seen the odd eager student already today!) and it’s going to be busy busy busy straight away.  First off we have Associated Studies- two weeks of lessons where 1st year students can try their hands at skills outside of their pathways.  For our design realisation students, that means learning about everything from lighting design to stage management and many more.  For students from the Theatre Technology Pathway or Stage and Costume Management, they get to learn all about what we do hear in design realisation.  It’s always a busy start to the term but nice to have some new faces joining us in the workshops.

There’s also a shift change with our second and third year students too; our third year students are trying out new management roles and our second years are developing skills in new departments.  We have some very big and interesting shows this term but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out what they’re all about…

Here’s a little extra addition for you…At the end of each year WordPress (the website that hosts this blog and MANY others) publishes a review of the previous year with stats and interesting facts about the blog.  Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 23,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 9 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

I like that fact a lot! Thanks for sharing, liking and reading, here’s to a wonderful 2014!
