Well anyone who knows us here in design realisation, and indeed the whole of the technical Theatre Arts Course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, knows that as well as being creative, technical and hard working, there is something else we do quite well too…we love baking!
To coincide with the Great British Bake-off currently showing on the BBC, we decided to hold our own little bake-off in aid of charity. As part of the Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning appeal, staff and students within technical theatre baked and sold cakes and biscuits to raise money for Macmillan.
We raised a total of £101 pounds! And as part of the bake sale, we asked people to vote for the entry that they thought was the best presented. Here are the runners-up:
In 3rd place is second year design realisation student Jasmine Bromley with her Carrot Cupcakes featuring beautiful golden roses on top…
In close second place was Digital performance Lecturer Dan Shorten’s Daisy Cupcakes…
But the winner and our very own Star Baker, by a long shot, was third year Theatre Technology student Katie Ducarreaux and her amazing Chocolate Hoots!
It’s clear that we don’t just create fantastic shows here at the Guildhall School, we also bake fantastic cakes too! I should say a massive thanks to everyone who baked, bought, ate and sold today; over £100 is going to Macmillan Cancer Support to help them in the brilliant work they do, and as always the generosity of staff and students here is inspiring.
