Week seven is well and truly under way; new faces populate the Design Realisation workshops as the second and third year students swap allocations for the last half of the term. There are a lot of old faces too, our very own design realisation students have shifted from one workshop to another, and some are working on their graduation projects which should all make for a very interesting 6 weeks.
We also welcome back second year Jenny who has been working hard in the costume department for the last six weeks. There’s no rest for her, Jenny heads straight into working on the boat for the opera triple bill, the last of the props to be made for the show.
There are other parts of the opera set that are being finished elsewhere in the workshops; here Lai is painting the roof of the watch tower and Katie has been painting the barriers for the bridge. This part of the production process is always an interesting one as the design realisation department are working hard on the finishing touches and touching-up bits of props and set that need more work, whilst the other production departments are in the thick of the work as they head into the opening of the show.
Stay tuned for some photos of the rehearsals, showing how all of the scenic elements and props come together. Also look out for photos of the next shows we have started working on (yes there are more!), the next 6 weeks are going to be very busy indeed…
